F1 Austria, all penalties for track limits
The “over 1200 cases to examine” have been analyzed, and the FIA has reached its conclusions after the Austrian Grand Prix. The Ferrari of Carlos Sainz and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton have been penalized with a ten-second time penalty. The Spanish and British drivers exceeded track limits on six occasions, dropping to sixth and eighth place respectively. Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell benefit from this (finishing fourth, fifth, and seventh). George Russell and Sergio Perez narrowly avoid penalties by a hair’s breadth; one more infraction would have resulted in a penalty.
The other penalized drivers are Pierre Gasly, Alexander Albon, Esteban Ocon (who received a whopping 30-second penalty), Logan Sargeant, Nyck de Vries, and Yuki Tsunoda. Among them, Gasly is the only one to lose championship points, dropping from ninth to tenth place in favor of Lance Stroll.

Here is a helpful summary of the penalties.
The rationale behind the penalties and the stewards’ recommendation
For four infractions, the stewards imposed a five-second time penalty; for five infractions, the penalty was doubled. Starting from the sixth infraction, the count was reset: on the ninth infraction, the driver received another five-second penalty, on the tenth infraction, they received an additional ten-second penalty, and so on. In the note, the race stewards “strongly recommended finding a solution to the track limits situation at this circuit” to avoid spending entire evenings scrutinizing every millimeter.
