A qualifying session to forget for Charles Leclerc, out of Q3 on the Saturday of the Imola GP, in what was supposed to be one of Ferrari’s most anticipated weekends, and he’s already thinking about Monaco. Interviewed at the end of the day, the Monegasque showed all his frustration over an SF-25 that continues to disappoint.
Ferrari’s #16 analyzed the car’s behavior: “You can play around as much as you want with the balance, but at the end of the day, the performance just isn’t good enough.” Despite the introduction of the new upgrade package, Charles Leclerc remains skeptical: “It has to be a damn good update for it to really change anything. Honestly, I don’t think it is. I hope it helps us move in the right direction, but the road is still long.”
Charles Leclerc in pieces after qualifying: Ferrari’s situation is dramatic
Charles Leclerc also spoke about his feelings during qualifying: “In Q2 I think I did my best lap on a used tire. Even though it wasn’t really used, I had only done an out lap with it. We’ll need to take a close look at those details.”
Asked about his teammate’s performance, Charles Leclerc acknowledged Carlos Sainz’s merits: “He’s very strong, especially in high-speed corners. On a track like this, it’s very difficult to get the car to rotate. We knew how crucial qualifying would be, and we didn’t do the job we needed to.”
With the disappointment of Imola still fresh, Charles Leclerc has already expressed concern about the next round in Monaco: “I think Monaco will highlight all the weaknesses of our car, so I believe it will be a very difficult weekend for us.” A statement that clearly shows just how aware the Monegasque is of the challenge of facing such a technical and twisty circuit with a still-unstable car.
