If there is one way to be immortalised, it will be when records are set. Formula 1 veteran Kimi Raikkonen already has a unique record of being the only F1 driver to win with three different engine specificatations. However, it is transpired that the 40-year old has got hold of even more unbeatable F1 records.
When the 2020 season concludes, he will overtake Rubens Barrichello to the record of most F1 race starts. In the meantime, Kimi is close setting another record, which will most likely happen next weekend, when the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at Silverstone. If he races 32 laps this weekend, Kimi Raikkonen will become the driver to have completed the most Grand Prix laps in Formula 1 history!
As Kimi showed last year, in which he scored 43 points to Antonio Giovinazzi’s 13, when he’s fully up for it both mentally and physically, he’s more than capable of getting the better of him relatively comfortably. But Alfa Romeo’s extremely disappointing performance this season, caused most likely by the loss of power of the Ferrari engine, may lead to Kimi deciding to end his Formula 1 career after 2020, given that 2021 will most likely bring back to the track cars which will be similar in terms of performance. And it’s perfectly understandable for one of the best drivers on the grid, with almost a 20-year career in the sport battling at the front, to not want to continue in these circumstances.
