A New Year has arrived and that means the countdown is on to the start of the new Formula One season. It only seems like yesterday that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were battling out in their thrilling, yet controversial lap, but the teams and drivers are now preparing for the new campaign.
While teams and driver changes are largely confirmed, there is one great unknown: Manufacturers have yet to officially launch their new car designs and clearly these will have a great impact on the final outcomes.
For now, however, there are some neutral assessments already in so who is likely to be at the top and where does Scuderia Ferrari fit into it all?
Usual Suspects at the top
The names at the top of the Drivers’ Championship markets offer no surprises. According to current F1 betting odds as sourced by Arabianbetting.com, record breaking Lewis Hamilton is the favourite with defending champion Max Verstappen close behind.
Mercedes have installed a new teammate for Hamilton in 2022 and George Russell slots in as third favourite before a gap opens to the chasing pack.
As the season draws closer, those odds will start to adjust and they will update right throughout the campaign. Arabianbetting.com will keep on top of things by reporting on latest prices while providing news and opinion articles relating to Formula One.

A selection of deposit and withdrawal options, together with other markets and the potential to live stream top class sport is also in place.
It’s a site worth checking out for any F1 fan but let’s now look at Ferrari’s chances in 2022.
The Dream Team
Scuderia Ferrari are set to go into the 2022 Formula One campaign with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. at the respective wheels. According to those same sportsbooks, they are joint fourth favourites to take the Drivers’ Championship this year.
It means that the Ferrari pair should offer the biggest challenge to defending champion Verstappen and his two Mercedes rivals. It’s still a big gap to make up but neither Leclerc nor Sainz will have any doubts that they can climb the podium.
In 80 F1 starts, Charles Leclerc has two Grand Prix wins and 13 podium finishes. His teammate, Carlos Sainz jr, has some ground to make up with six podium finishes and no wins in 140 starts.
It’s a tough ask but new rules and new cars could make this a more open contest in 2022. Scuderia fans may not be supremely confident, but they can certainly be hopeful of more success in the upcoming formula one season.
Looking to make up ground
The size of the task placed in front of the Ferrari team is highlighted by the Constructors’ Championship winner market. Here, Mercedes are very heavy favourites and, even though Max Verstappen is the world drivers’ champion, his Red Bull team are in a distant second place.
Trailing in third position are Ferrari and then there is another significant gap to McLaren in fourth place.
It all suggests that Scuderia fans may have to settle for third best at the end of the 2022 campaign. Of course, new rules and new designs could have an effect, but those markets are rarely wrong.
What Ferrari will be aiming for are more regular places on the podium. The hope, rather than the expectation, will be for a Grand Prix win at some stage in 2022.
Charles Leclerc already has those two victories to his name but they both came in the 2019 season. Three years is a long wait for a follow up and the man from Monaco will be anxious for an overdue third GP win.
The reality for Scuderia fans is that they may have to accept being the third best team in F1 for another season at least. Rule changes offer hope but we really want to see Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc at the very top of some podiums in 2022.
