Lewis Hamilton’s love for Ferrari goes beyond Formula 1—it all started with a movie. The seven-time world champion’s interests range from fashion to music, as well as art and cinema. In 2022, he announced the launch of his production company, Dawn Apollo Films, which is already supporting the highly anticipated Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.
Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Ferrari marks a historic moment in Formula 1: the most successful driver ever joining the most iconic team in motorsport. A partnership that has already secured a victory in the Shanghai Sprint Race and promises to bring many more joys to Ferrari fans. But before the Japanese Grand Prix, the British driver took a trip down memory lane.
Reflecting on his passion for cinema, #44 recalls the first time he ever saw a Ferrari. It was the 250 GT California Spyder featured in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. A movie that the British champion remembers fondly, and one whose famous jump scene he recently recreated in a video on his YouTube channel.
Hamilton: “That Scene with the Ferrari Stuck in My Mind”
“I love cinema, I love movies—I even started a production company,” Lewis Hamilton said on Scuderia Ferrari’s social media channels. “I grew up watching the great classics of the time, like Trading Places, Coming to America, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is definitely one of them.”
“In that movie, I saw a Ferrari for the first time when I was five or six years old. I was talking about it with my friend Timmy, thinking how cool it would be to recreate that scene where they drive the Ferrari over the hill, jumping and landing with Star Wars music playing in the background. I never stopped thinking about it from the moment I first imagined it.” – he pointed out – “Being able to bring this dream to life was truly amazing—a tribute to this new adventure and the new life I have now with Ferrari.”
