There’s no denying the fact that we have witnessed a lot of legendary drivers in the Ferrari F1 car. Throughout the years, they have managed to create some of the most notable memories that we, the fans, have of this sport.
The start of the 21st century marked the beginning of an era where Ferrari F1 drivers dominated the racetracks. That is why we wanted to take a look at a few of the most notable drives and see what they managed to accomplish over the years. Let’s check them out.
Sebastian Vettel
Vettel debuted with Ferrari in the Australian Grand Prix, where he managed to finish third. He joined the team in late-2014 and acted as a replacement for the great Fernando Alonso. While being part of the team, Vettel managed to finish first on 4 occasions – the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix, the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix, the 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix, and the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix.
Additionally, he finished second on 6 occasions and was on the podium as the third-ranked driver 4 times. After the 2020 season ended, rumours started circulating that Vettel may be on his way out. And since F1 fans are huge betting fans, they even started wagering on which team will he join next.
Online sportsbooks stated that they had a small spike in F1 bets during that period. Some of them even provided registered punters with extra bonus codes for the bonuses and promotions that apply to F1 and Vettel’s new team. Such was the case with Bet365. This betting site was flooded with bets of this type. It is worth noting that Bet365 sportsbook still offers tons of bonus codes that can provide you with access to unique bonuses.
Kimi Raikkonen
Next up, we have none other than the Iceman himself. There’s no denying the fact that Kimi might be past his prime, but he is still active and fun to watch. Apart from providing us with great moments on the track, he’s also a legend on the radio. The F1 has a whole compilation of some of his greatest radio moments and he is absolutely hilarious. Kimi’s press conferences are also a must-watch.
Kimi joined Ferrari in 2007 and managed to win the 2007 Championship and beat the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. But, he left Formula 1 in 2009 and participated in rally races. After the layoff, he rejoined F1 and signed with Ferrari in 2014. After the return, his most successful year was 2018. Kimi had 12 podiums, 251 points and finished third.
Fernando Alonso
After we mentioned Fernando Alonso so many times, it is time to take a closer look into his Ferrari time as well. Although Alonso agreed to join Ferrari in 2009, the deal was pushed to 2010, when he made his debut. He was part of the Ferrari team until 2014 and managed to have solid success in his time.
In his debut season with Ferrari, Alonso finished second and had a total of 252 points. The 2011 season saw him finish 4th with a total of 257 points. Then, he was ranked second for two consecutive seasons (2013 and 2014) with 278 and 242 points respectively. In his last season, Fernando Alonso finished 6th with a total of 161 points.
Michael Schumacher
Finally, we have one of the greatest F1 drives of all time. What Michael Schumacher managed to do while being part of the Ferrari team will forever be embedded in history. Although some of his records have been broken by Lewis Hamilton, we can all agree that Schumi will forever remain No.1.
Schumi joined Ferrari in 1996 and during the years, he had rivalries with numerous drivers, but he always managed to remain at the top. His greatest accomplishment is the fact that he won the F1 championship in 5 consecutive years, from 2000 to 2004. Michael was part of the Ferrari team for 10 years.
All of us were shocked when we received the news about his ski accident and since then, his family has released no details concerning his current state. But, since we need to respect his privacy, we won’t go any further in details.
Honourable Mentions
Some honourable mentions that have driven in the past or are currently driving for Ferrari are Rubens Barrichello, Giancarlo Fisichella, the great Niki Lauda, Alberto Ascari, and Luca Badoer. Charles LeClerc also deserves a mention as the youngster has shown that he has what it takes to be the future star of the team. Even though he had a rough start of the new season.
