Lewis Hamilton continues to struggle with this Ferrari. Starting seventh, the Briton crossed the finish line in the same position.
Something just isn’t working between #44 and the Red car: a difficult marriage that has only seen one flash of light during the Chinese Sprint Race. By contrast, Charles Leclerc seems to have found that famous magic button to unlock the performance of this temperamental SF-25. Fred Vasseur, however, is not concerned about Lewis Hamilton’s performance. During a media session after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, our correspondent gathered his statements on the matter.
“Honestly, I’m not too worried. Just look at what he’s done so far. In China or Bahrain last week, or even during the first part of this weekend,” said the Ferrari team principal.
There is a solution to Lewis Hamilton’s issues: “The potential is definitely there. We just need to fix the balance because we’re struggling with that on this car. I’m sure the potential is there.”
Fred Vasseur believes there have been significant developments that will also help the seven-time world champion become more comfortable with this car.
“The potential is there, but we didn’t manage to put it all together yesterday,” he reiterated. “On one hand, the project still needs to be understood, but we need to react together. It’s not about pointing fingers at anyone, but about all doing a better job together. Working as a team. This weekend, we can take away more positives than negatives.” – the French manager pointed out.
Ferrari with two faces: Charles Leclerc on the podium, Lewis Hamilton (still) off it
“This race was tough, but I think we really did a great job. I don’t know if I’ll be happy with third place, but I think today was fantastic.” These were the first words from the Monegasque over team radio to his race engineer after crossing the line in third place.
