Senior figures at Liberty Media have also welcomed with great enthusiasm the inclusion of Istanbul Park in the future Formula 1 calendar. Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, was keen to highlight the sporting and cultural value of a multi-year agreement that will bring the cars back to Turkish soil starting from the 2027 season.
“We are thrilled to return to a dynamic and extraordinary metropolis like Istanbul, ready to inspire our local fans and audiences around the world on one of the most adrenaline-filled and technically demanding circuits on the entire calendar,” the Italian executive began. “This city serves as a crucial cultural bridge between Europe and Asia, offering a truly unique blend of rich historical heritage and a modern vision closely tied to entertainment, business, and sport.” – the former Ferrari team principal pointed out.
Stefano Domenicali then turned his attention to the institutions that made the agreement possible: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to President Erdogan, to the Ministries of Youth and Sport, Culture and Tourism, as well as to the Turkish Motorsport Federation for their fundamental support throughout this process. The asphalt of Istanbul Park has witnessed unforgettable chapters of our history, and I cannot wait to begin this new phase of our partnership. We want to give fans the opportunity to experience even more incredible battles in what is objectively a fantastic setting.”
This landmark agreement marks a strategic expansion for Formula 1, blending the technical challenges of a world-class circuit with the unique cultural appeal of Istanbul to create a truly global sporting spectacle.
