The news of former Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel’s retirement from the world of Formula 1 left a lot of fans speechless, and even the media, alongside many paddock insiders were surprised by the decision made by the Aston Martin driver, who was aware that he would no longer have the chance to fight for race wins in Formula 1 and therefore decided to leave the sport.
However, the former Ferrari driver seemed willing to still take part in the process of improving the sport and precisely for this reason Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, said that he would like to offer Sebastian Vettel a place in the F1 management.
“I found of his decision from the news. I’ll talk to him” – said former Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali last week, visibly surprised by the German driver’s decision.
The conversation between the two has already taken place and the President of the Formula One Group recounted and described all the topics discussed at that moment from which many key points emerged. The interview was conducted by the German newspaper Bilb and below are some of his statements:
“We talked about his decision and his future. Sebastian will always be associated with the world of Formula 1 and of course, we want that bond to continue. If he is interested in being part of our system and the approaches fit, of course I would gladly welcome him. But we know that after this season he wants to end things and enjoy some time with his family” – he said.
The driver has followed many social, ecological and environmental issues with great attention and dedication, proving once again to be a great reference model and an example to follow; therefore the role of Sebastian Vettel, hypothesized by Stefano Domenicali, could be connected precisely to this.

Sebastian Vettel took the ball by deciding to take a dig at Formula 1 stating that the sport does not fit the times, at the exact moment he drove Nigel Mansell’s 1992 Williams FW14B and the 1922 Aston Martin with both cars powered by carbon neutral fuel.
“It is different if you have to prepare a car for one or two laps or 20 cars for 70 laps and an entire season. We are not behind with technology, quite the contrary. We are ahead. As long as I am in charge, I will always support the development of good Formula 1 fuel for the environment.” – former Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali concluded.
