As a guest on the latest episode of Beyond The Grid, Italian manager and the current CEO of Formula One Group, Stefano Domenicali, spoke about his past as the team principal of Scuderia Ferrari. In particular, as the first question, the host asked him if his experience in Maranello was useful for his current role.

“Working at Ferrari was very helpful because it allowed me to understand the dynamics within a team, such as how to communicate with potential commercial partners. It also helped me in understanding the complexity of this ecosystem. At this moment, after the period of Chase Carey, my history is proving to be fundamental for me because this role is not so different from what I had in Maranello,” replied the chief executive officer of Formula 1.

The interview then shifted to an interesting topic, which is the connection between the Maranello team and Formula 1, and how important the former is for the latter. Stefano Domenicali’s response was heartfelt, emphasizing that the pinnacle of motorsport is like it’s in the DNA of the Italian side, and that there will always be a need for the Prancing Horse to be committed to staying.

“Ferrari is very important for Formula 1 because it is part of the sport’s heritage. Around the world, there are still many fans who support the team. What is important now is that Ferrari believes in Formula 1 for its future. They need to invest in it because there are other teams that are building their own stories. What I would say to my friends at Ferrari is that believing in looking only backwards to lay the foundation for the future is wrong. You need to keep the myth alive by believing that Formula 1 is always part of the Scuderia’s project. I hope they will do this because I can’t see them outside of Formula 1,” the Italian added.
