Stefano Domenicali recently took part in an episode of Fabio Rovazzi’s Podcast where he discussed Formula 1 and a very important topic for the entire series: female drivers. Here are some of his most important comments on this matter.
Formula 1 and future female drivers
Speaking also with singer Francesca Michielin, another guest of the episode and a big Formula 1 fan, Stefano Domenicali said: “In the past, there were also limitations related to the physicality required to drive the cars, but at this moment I must say that we are overcoming them because the initiative we have taken as Formula 1 over the past two years is to develop interest in driving among women.” – the former Ferrari team principal pointed out.
“I believe that the choices were probably related to the fact that there are sports that boys prefer more than girls. It is a matter of the number of people who initially were more passionate about cars. Now that number is increasing.” – the Formula 1 chief executive officer concluded.
One of the many goals of the future Formula 1 is indeed to bring a woman into the category, and this project is already underway thanks to the F1 Academy, where a grid of only women competes behind the wheel of Formula 3 cars.
