Ferrari, a disappointing start
The enthusiasm around Ferrari seen in Piazza Castello, in Milan, before the start of the season was washed away by the rain in Melbourne and hasn’t reignited even during the first Asian rounds of the 2025 World Championship. The SF-25 is a car that started off worse than its competitors, and while the updates seen in Bahrain did bring improvements, they were not decisive.
Among the Tifosi there is clearly a sense of discontent, and the question is whether the Scuderia will be able to overturn the current hierarchy (as McLaren did in 2024 against Red Bull) and provide a serious challenge to the papaya team, which is currently leading both championships. For F1 president Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari must keep working and dreaming because the gap to the top is very small.
Stefano Domenicali’s comments
“I see a Ferrari that is very close to those who are winning. The only advice I can give Fred Vasseur is to keep working with his head down without feeling the pressure, which is natural for someone in that position. I’m convinced that we’ll soon see Ferrari win again this year,” he said on La politica nel pallone for Gr Parlamento. “They must keep staying there, this year the gaps are so small that details will make the difference. In Bahrain the GP was full of overtakes and twists. It seems McLaren has a very strong car, but the events that can happen in every race will keep our fans engaged until the final Sunday.” – he pointed out.
The former Ferrari team principal then focused on Lewis Hamilton, who aside from the Sprint in China has always been behind Charles Leclerc and is disappointing himself above all: “Being Ferrari is something unique, I was talking about it with Hamilton, who realized what it means to wear the red suit. Lewis’s challenge at Ferrari is an extraordinary sporting one; winning right away is no easy feat. I believe his strength lies in believing and growing together with the team. I want to stay positive, even if it’s obviously not easy. And then, Leclerc is an extraordinary driver who doesn’t want to miss the chance to prove he’s the strongest. There are extraordinary elements within the Ferrari team that are positive for the entire F1 world.”
