Eduardo Barrichello, son of Formula 1 legend and former Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello, is gearing up for an exciting new chapter in his motorsport career thanks to Aston Martin. The 23-year-old Brazilian driver is set to make his full debut in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), joining Aston Martin customer team Racing Spirit of Léman in the LMGT3 class.
Over the past two years, Barrichello has made a name for himself in the Stock Car Brasil Championship, competing with the Mobil Ale Full Time team. His impressive performance this season culminated in a third-place finish in the drivers’ standings, along with three career victories.
Barrichello’s son joins the WEC: here’s where and with whom he will race
This solid foundation in competitive racing has prepared him for the challenges of the WEC, where endurance racing demands not just speed but also strategy and teamwork.
Next season, Barrichello will be partnered with experienced drivers Derek Deboer and Valentin Hasse Clot, driving the number 10 Vantage AMR LMGT3 EVO car for the team. Racing Spirit of Léman has high aspirations for the upcoming season, aiming to compete for the championship title.
Eduardo’s journey into racing is particularly significant given his father’s illustrious career. Rubens Barrichello, who raced alongside seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher at Ferrari from 2000 to 2005, has a legacy in F1 that includes 11 victories and 322 race starts.
After debuting in F1 in 1993 with Jordan and retiring at the end of the 2011 season, Rubens undoubtedly influenced Eduardo’s path. Thus, the beloved surname among Ferrari fans returns to the world of racing.
