More than a month has now passed since Louis Camilleri ‘s decision to leave the role of Ferrari CEO. It was December 10 when his decision was announced, mainly related to personal reasons. There was no lack of the classic debate regarding his uccessor and so Sky Sports Italy analyzed the characteristics of each individual candidate, trying to identify figures with managerial skills, but with an important racing drift, while economic analysts have always sought the entrepreneurial qualities to manage a company listed on the stock exchange and dedicated to the growth and development of sales. The blood froze a little when rumor that Ferrari would have relied on a “head hunter” to identify the right profile came out, because perhaps we are too romantic and we start from the assumption that those who hold that role must have “healthy fuel” flowing through their veins.
The hypotheses circulated and the name of Andrea Agnelli
But today’s society works, for better or for worse, even in this way. Having said that, however, to date there is no certain name. At the beginning of January there was the name of Andrea Agnell. A “candidate” certainly well regarded in the environment, by sponsors and by the racing world, also considering his past in the circus. In fact, the Juventus president began his career by managing, reporting directly to Maurizio Arrivabene, Philip Morris’ motorsport and paddock club commitment in Formula 1, experiencing first hand and on the spot all the Ferrari vicissitudes. From what emerges it would seem that John Elkann, president and current interim CEO of Ferrari, has focused much more attention on Maranello, especially after the birth of Stellantis, the new motoring hub created by the merger of FCA and the PSA group, with a French majority, but from which Ferrari is excluded.
Elkann increasingly into the Ferrari project
The presidential helicopter is now almost always on a permanent basis in Fiorano and from what we know he wanted to meet many men of the team and not just the top management, to make more contact and perhaps possession of a reality that now as never before, in the era recently, certainly needs a greater presence “in the field”.
John Elkann has put himself in the project body and soul, for the future we will have to wait a little longer. The interim will therefore continue, barring sudden accelerations, at least until the start of the world championship, at which time, the same track results could decree a transition to full capacity in the role (also) of CEO as it was in the recent era for Montezemolo and Marchionne. Elkann himself, also on the basis of Stellantis’ corporate evolutions, will decide whether to keep the role or rely on trusted people like Mike Manley or one of his cousins, with whom he has alternating current relationships, Alessandro Nasi and Andrea Agnelli …
