Sky Sport Italy has also reported on a rumor that have been circulating during the last few days, according to which Frédéric Vasseur, the current boss of Alfa Romeo, will take over from Mattia Binotto as Ferrari team principal (but that’s not the only name circulating at this moment).
As we wait for a confirmation or denial of this information, let’s learn more about Frédéric Vasseur, who arrived in Formula 1 six years ago with Renault, after several experiences in Formula 2 and Formula 3. In his curriculum there are many titles and a group of many future big names in Motorsport such as Hamilton, Rosberg, Russell and, last but not least, Charles Leclerc
FORMULA 1
Frederic Vasseur is a well known figure in the paddock. Born in 1968, he has a long career behind him that starts in what is now the current Formula 2 and Formula 3 series. According to the rumors that have been growing in the last few hours, he could be the one to take Mattia Binotto’s place in Ferrari. Fred Vasseur is currently head of Alfa Romeo, i.e. Sauber: team principal and CEO since 2017.
ENTRY WITH RENAULT
The first step had come the year before in Renault. It was 2016 when he became the team principal, thus making his entry into the top category of motorsport.

Degree in Aeronautical Techniques and Automotive Engineering from ESTACA (1996).
THE EARLY YEARS
The Frenchman enters the world of motor sport in the same year, 1996, with the foundation of the ASM Team, followed in 2004 by that of the ART Grand Prix, both leading to success, and with them young drivers destined to write Formula 1 history.
WITH ASM
1996, as we said. The first stage is the ASM Team which entered, in the same year, the F3 Euro Series and won four times from 2004 to 2007 with Jamie Green, Lewis Hamilton, Paul Di Resta and Romain Grosjean.
WITH ART GRAND PRIX
In 2004, Fred Vasseur continued his ART Grand Prix journey, introducing the team to GP2 (now Formula 2) one year later. The outcome is a series of successes: 8 overall titles, 4 Constructors titles (2005, 2006, 2009 and 2015) and 4 Drivers titles.
CHARLES LECLERC AMONG THE DISCOVERED TALENTS
Winning with ART Grand Prix team were (again) Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Nico Hülkenberg and Stoffel Vandoorne. Other successes include the GP3 Series titles where other future big names such as Esteban Gutierrez, Valtteri Bottas, Esteban Ocon and Charles Leclerc triumphed.
CHARLES LECLERC IN F1 WITH HIM
And Charles Leclerc would make his Formula 1 debut with the Sauber led by Frederic Vasseur
FORMULA E
In 2012, Frederic Vasseur founded Spark Racing Technology (SRT), a company that develops hybrid and electric powertrains. With the introduction of Formula E in 2014, his Spark Racing Technology company was commissioned to build 40 chassis for the inaugural series.
