Carlo Vanzini is doing well: smiling, the Sky Sport F1 commentator shared a video showing him outside the hospital. “I will watch the Formula 1 tests as a spectator,” he had said two months ago when announcing his pancreatic cancer diagnosis and the surgery he would undergo. Today, Carlo Vanzini can finally return home.
In a video posted on his Instagram profile, the Sky Sport F1 journalist is smiling as he exits the hospital, carrying a suitcase as a symbol of victory. “Thanks to everyone” is the caption accompanying the post on social media.
Immediate responses of joy flooded the comments under his video, which you can see at the bottom of the article: “Great Carlo!”, “Here he is!”, “Finally!” Some even referenced one of his timeless TV catchphrases: “No more problems problems!”
The illness announcement and his son’s video update
Last December, Carlo Vanzini announced that he was ill. The 54-year-old journalist then revealed he would undergo surgery in January, following cycles of chemotherapy. The well-known commentator also appeared in a live video on Sky, greeting his colleagues in the studio, including a visibly emotional Davide Camicioli.
While waiting to see him back on TV, Vanzini was temporarily replaced in the commentary box for the pre-season tests in Bahrain.
A few weeks ago, his son Luca updated fans about his father’s condition via social media: “Carlo is doing well, he is recovering. Soon you will find him giving you a hard time about the daily aspects of Formula 1.” That moment has finally arrived: Vanzini will return home, and hopefully he will soon resume his normal work on Sky.
The editorial team at F1InGenerale wishes Carlo Vanzini a smooth and full recovery.
