The Swiss-born Italian will officially leave on December 31 after overseeing a poor 2022 Formula 1 season. Charles Leclerc initially threatened to challenge Red Bull’s Max Verstappen for the world Drivers’ Championship this year, but the Monegasque driver fell away due to a string of team errors and reliability issues.
At the same time, Sky Italia commentator Carlo Vanzini pointed out that “probably Simone Resta is going back to Ferrari as the new technical director.”
