Let’s discover all the results from FP1 at Silverstone where Norris took the fastest time. Ferrari has many uncertainties as Carlos Sainz, without updates, seemed to perform better than Charles Leclerc.
Formula 1 expects another spectacular weekend: the on-track incident between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris has fueled ticket sales for the Silverstone GP. The British fans want to see the McLaren driver win his second race of the season. At the same time, they hope for an all-British podium with the two Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Dry FP1, comparative tests for Ferrari
Rain did not affect the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix, a session that saw a brief red flag due to an error by Yuki Tsunoda, who got stuck in the gravel at Luffield. Norris led Stroll and Piastri, all three on soft tires. Max Verstappen on medium tires was only nine-thousandths faster than Russell, then both did a long run with different tires (medium for Russell, hard for Verstappen). Regarding the Maranello team, Carlos Sainz ran with the unupdated SF-24 and seemed very comfortable, while Leclerc experienced several bounces in fast corners, especially at Copse.
Lando Norris was the fastest in FP1 ahead of Stroll and Piastri, all three on soft tires. Max Verstappen was the best on medium tires, nine-thousandths faster than George Russell. Fernando Alonso, on soft tires, managed to position himself between the Mercedes duo, who were on medium tires. Eight-time British Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton was in seventh place. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz secured eighth and ninth positions, respectively, while Esteban Ocon of Alpine completed the top 10 in FP1.
Here are the final results from the first practice session for the British Grand Prix:
1. Lando Norris, McLaren – 1:27.420
2. Lance Stroll, Aston Martin +0.134
