The Formula 1 World Championship, just one week after the last event in Austria at the Red Bull Ring, will resume this weekend at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. From a technical point of view, the British circuit is undoubtedly demanding and very critical for the tires. It is characterized by long straights and several medium-high-speed corners that put a lot of stress on the tires due to significant lateral loads. Additionally, the track has a moderately abrasive asphalt surface.

The various medium-high-speed corners generate a lot of energy in the tires, as shown in the graph below. The most critical but also the most thrilling section is the one from turn 10 to turn 14, Maggots-Becketts-Chapel.
It is a sequence characterized by several high-speed direction changes, which require high precision in corner entry and high speed through the corners. High aerodynamic efficiency is necessary to navigate this section properly.
The asphalt is moderately abrasive, which, combined with the severity of the track due to high loads, makes it necessary to choose one of the hardest sets of tires available from Pirelli, namely C1-C2-C3.
For the British race, Pirelli is introducing new, stiffer constructions to counteract the excessive growth of aerodynamic load on the cars compared to the values provided by the teams in the simulations at the beginning of the season. The load values measured after a few races were already at the levels estimated for the end of the year.

Considering the significant amount of energy generated on the front left tire and the possibility of cold weather, despite the summer period, phenomena such as graining on this tire cannot be overlooked.
