Short season won’t devalue Formula 1 title – Sebastian Vettel. There is a firm belief that a shortened season will still be possible.

Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel has said the Formula 1 World Championship would not become devalued if it is won over a shortened season. A record-breaking 22-race calendar was all set to come our way in 2020 before the global health crisis tore the schedule to shreds.

There is a firm belief that a shortened season will still be possible, but will there be an asterisk next to name of the driver whoever wins this particular F1 title?

Not in Sebastian Vettel’s eyes, a Formula 1 World Championship is still exactly that, regardless of how many races are in a season.

“I don’t know how it would feel because we never had that sort of circumstance,” Sebastian Vettel said in a recent online conference call – “Before we had less races in the past and more races today, but I don’t think it makes a big difference. Obviously a season is a season, whether it’s 10, 15 or 20, 25 races. So you still have to be the one that is most consistent. With less races, every race is more important, but the championship would still be the championship. So it’s still a long way, and you know, each single race weekend is a long way. And races mean there will still be a lot of things to get right.” – he explained.

While Formula 1 bosses have plans to host as many as many 18 races this year, Sebastian Vettel thinks we are still at an uncertain stage where any schedule ideas cannot be put together with much confidence.

“I think at this stage, nobody really knows what to expect from this year, from this season,” he added – “Maybe this season is going into part of next year as well. I don’t know. So, lots of ideas, lots of options, but I think we have to have to be patient and wait.” – Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel concluded.
