Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel has paid an emotional tribute to his “hero” Michael Schumacher. The Formula One legend endured life changing injuries on the French Alps where he was holidaying with his family and friends in December 2013.
Michael Schumacher is now understood to receive round-the-clock care with updates on his condition rare over recent years. Sebastian Vettel is the second-most successful German in racing history behind Schumacher and has revealed the impact he has had on his career: “He was my hero. I used to have posters on the wall of him. I met Michael for the first time when I was seven. Then, later, I got to know him as a person and he was always there for me, with a word of advice or help.” – he said, as reported by F1 Racing magazine – “For me, he is the best driver we have ever had in terms of talent, skills, passion and willpower. “For me, he is the best driver we have ever had in terms of talent, skills, passion and willpower.” – he added.
Four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel went on to send a message to Schumacher as he continues his recovery from the skiing accident: “Of course I wish him the very best and hope that he will continue to fight the battle and come back some time.
