The four-time world champion will take to the streets of the British capital to raise money for charity
Running for a good cause
Sebastian Vettel is set to race once again. However, this time it will not be in Formula 1, nor in any other motorsport category. The German champion has decided to lace up his running shoes and take on a completely different kind of challenge: completing the 42.195 kilometers of the London Marathon, scheduled to take place on April 26 in the British capital. This new challenge for the four-time world champion is driven by a noble goal — raising funds for charity.
Sebastian Vettel will take part in the race alongside Formula 1 journalist and Beyond The Grid podcast host Tom Clarkson. Their shared objective will be to raise money for the Grand Prix Trust, an organization that provides support to Formula 1’s trackside and factory staff, as well as for the Brain & Spine Foundation, which was founded by former F1 medical delegate Professor Sid Watkins and supports people affected by neurological conditions.
This initiative represents just the latest in a long series of challenges and charitable efforts that Sebastian Vettel has embraced since stepping away from Formula 1. Many of these activities have also brought him back into the F1 paddock in recent seasons. For example, the former Red Bull and Ferrari star attended the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend last year, where he actively engaged the paddock in his F1FOREST project, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about deforestation and environmental sustainability.
Earlier in his post-racing career, the former Ferrari driver also launched a biodiversity-focused project known as Buzzin’ Corner, while he organized an event in Saudi Arabia called Race4Women, designed to encourage greater female participation in motorsport and to inspire a new generation of women to engage with racing.
Sebastian Vettel’s transition from high-speed racing to endurance running therefore highlights his ongoing dedication to using his global influence for humanitarian and environmental progress. By taking on the London Marathon, he continues to demonstrate that his competitive spirit is now firmly channeled into supporting charitable foundations and raising awareness for critical social issues.
