The current contract of Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel expires at the end of the 2020 Formula One season and where Sky Italia previously reported that Sebastian will have to do it with a much lower amount, there is now news that the German has rejected the first proposal.
Sebastian Vettel came in 2015 as the new leader to Ferrari. The German wanted to follow his idol Michael Schumacher and also become world champion with Ferrari. Six years later, the Maranello team does want to keep Sebastian Vettel, but under certain conditions. According to Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport, Scuderia Ferrari has only twelve million euros left for the four-time world champion and wants to offer the German even a one-year extension. This was not what Sebastian Vettel was waiting for. According to the Italian medium, the German refused this proposal.
The question now is whether the negotiations will be continued. Sebastian Vettel reportedly wants a two-year contract and a salary close to his current deal. It remains to be seen whether the two parties will come to an agreement or whether Scuderia Ferrari will look for a cheaper and younger alternative.
