Scuderia Ferrari’s season hasn’t started well, but German driver Sebastian Vettel insists the atmosphere and spirit are “as good or better than last year” in the Maranello team garage, as the four-time Formula One world champion is confident that his car will perform the same as it did during pre-season testing around the same circuit.
“The car was really good in testing, we arrived in Australia and struggled to feel the same, the first four races have been up and down. Deep down, we know the car is strong. The spirit is as good or better than last year, we’re in good shape and we’re confident about the parts we bring here. So we’re trying to put the bits together and try and understand. We haven’t found the silver bullet, but in the last 10 years I never found a silver bullet so I don’t think it exists. It’s really getting down to the detail, trying to understand more and more, trying to understand the conditions that we face and trying to obviously improve and make sure it doesn’t happen again.” Sebastian Vettel said in the drivers’ press conference.
With Mercedes producing four one-two results, the Silver Arrows are pulling away in both world championships. The Italian team need to find answers quickly and Sebastian Vettel is confident his team will find similar performance levels to the pre-season tests.
“This weekend will be interesting for us because we had a good feeling here not so long ago so it will be interesting to see how it behaves this weekend, but I’m confident if we can get to the level, we will be very competitive. We have a new engine and some other new things on the car. We hope this will help us to do better than in the last race. The spirit in the team is high.” – the German driver concluded, ahead of the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix, which will take place at the Circuit de Catalunya.
