Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel admitted that the dynamic will be different at the Maranello team once Charles Leclerc replaces Kimi Raikkonen next year. Sebastian has spent the past four seasons with Ferrari since joining the Italian manufacturers after a stellar spell with Red Bull and Kimi Raikkonen has shared the same garage as him the whole time having rejoined them a year before the German’s move.
Ferrari will have a new look for the 2019 Formula 1 campaign though with Raikkonen on his way out and Leclerc replacing him, as Sebastian Vettel admits that change will be reflected with Leclerc out to establish himself as Ferrari’s No 1 driver rather than taking a back seat: “Charles is not Kimi and Kimi is not Charles. I’m sure he wants to beat me and I want to beat him too, but at the same time I’m his teammate, so I’m here to help him too. The rules of the game are clear to everyone. The key is that we work together on the track. It will definitely be different with Charles but I think he is a decent young man and that we will get along well, so I don‘t see any problems coming to me or us.” – Sebastian explained.
English senior performance engineer Jock Clear did not confirm for the moment that he will be the 21-year-old Monégasque racing driver’s race engineer for the 2019 Formula One season, but did say that he will have a stronger influence on Charles Leclerc’s side next year: “The relationship with Sebastian will be important. We need to manage that very positively and make sure the team grows as a whole, not just on Charles’s side and not just on Seb’s side.” – Jock Clear explained.
