Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel decided to give up the hotel in Spielberg, preferring to rent a motorhome as other drivers did. The paddock without hospitality has changed its face thanks to the offices in the containers.
Formula 1 is returning to its ordinary activity. The paddock of the Red Bull Ring is becoming more and more populated, with the arrival of team members expected mostly in the afternoon today. Most of the staff are arriving by air to Graz airport, but there are also those who have reached Spielberg by car and some sporadic train journeys.
The assembly works of the structures that welcome the technical staff, real traveling offices that will not be joined by the hospitality on this occasion are nearing completed. What was the ‘palaces’ area now sees the presence of a group of cabins (which look a lot like containers) prepared by the organizers for each team, in line with what normally occurs in some of the extra-European events.
Each team has three of these cabins at their disposal, which form a U-shaped structure where a small outdoor space with tables has also been set up.
Several drivers have chosen to sleep in the racetrack area, in personal motorhomes that can be parked in spaces usually dedicated to the public or for promotional activities, and among them is Sebastian Vettel.
A choice that in the past has been preferred to avoid traffic problems, a handicap not expected this weekend given the fact that the event is behind closed doors, but the advantage of avoiding contacts in the Hotel remains and guarantees greater privacy.
The Ferrari staff, like those of other teams, have created customized masks, which have already become the subject of attention by collectors who never miss any news.
The good news, for those who will have to work in the pits of the Red Bull Ring wearing masks, comes from the weather forecast. The hottest day is expected tomorrow (26 degrees maximum), followed by a Friday in which rain and temperatures are expected to be below twenty degrees. Saturday and Sunday the situation will improve, but without heat peaks that would become a real problem for those who will work in the pits.
