Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel spoke of his excitement ahead of the 2019 season during the launch of the Maranello team’s car. The SF90, named to celebrate Scuderia’s 90th birthday, was lifted through the floor as it was revealed for the first time. Charles Leclerc, the Italian’s new recruit stood alongside Sebastian Vettel and Mattia Binotto at the launch.
The German driver joked about wearing the wrong clothes during the launch as he expressed his desperation to start driving. On February 18, the car will take part in pre-season testing: “We are all excited, we see little bits of the car at the end of last year and over the winter, but today is the first day to see it in full. Unfortunately, I’m not dressed, so I can’t drive it now, but I can’t wait to get in,” Vettel said at the Ferrari event.
Mattia Binotto comes in to replace Arrivabene and while this brings about change, Vettel remains confident that his working relationship with Binotto will remain stable as they work towards the goal of beating Mercedes: “Mattia [Binotto] has been a part of this team longer than most in this room, obviously we’ve worked together over the last five years. It’ll be a new way to work together but I’m looking forward to it,” Vettel added – “I feel the team is on the right path and will continue improving.” – he concluded.
