Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton: enemies on the track, friends off. And a lot of mutual respect
Lewis Hamilton returned to victory in Formula 1 after two and a half seasons, and he also received compliments from one of his greatest rivals: Sebastian Vettel.
The two have been adversaries on several occasions and at different points in their careers, but their rivalry fully blossomed during the 2017 and 2018 seasons when they battled wheel-to-wheel for the world championship title.
In both cases, the Englishman came out on top, but despite some high-tension periods, their friendship off the track was never affected by controversial moments while racing.
Mutual respect has never been lacking, and last week Sebastian Vettel confirmed it once again: at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 British Grand Prix in Silverstone, the German posted a story on Instagram congratulating the Mercedes driver.
On his profile, the four-time world champion wrote: “G.O.A.T.; congratulations Lewis.”
In short, even nearly two years after his retirement, the former Ferrari driver continues to closely follow Formula 1, never missing an opportunity to say nice words about his former colleagues, especially—one might say—for Lewis Hamilton.
