Although carried out with the 2020 car, Charles Leclerc’s driver in Maranello does not fall within the two filming days granted by the regulation but in those of events with a total of 15 km “demonstration”.
The Monegasque driver took to the streets of Maranello with the SF1000, a car with which he will race in Austria on 5 and 12 July. But before taking to the track in Spielberg, on Tuesday 23 June the Monegasque driver together with the four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, will drive (again the SF1000) at Mugello on the last filming day granted by the FIA, usually used in the summer months in Monza. It looks like a preview for the team’s celebrations of the 1000th GP, which could take place in September on the Tuscan circuit. For the mayor of Florence Nardella the agreement with F1 is close: «A second Formula 1 GP in Italy this year is practically certain, so we can hope for a historical event which would remain in the annals of the world motor sport but also in the history of Florence. Fingers crossed. Never have we come so close to the possibility of having Formula 1 in Florence and the Mugello racetrack”. However, the last words go to Liberty, Fia and the Ferrari owner of the track, which this year will not host a MotoGp event.
Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel will complete the 100 kilometers granted by the FIA sports regulations using a set of Pirelli “demos”, quite far from the real tires that will be used on the beautiful Italian track during a race weekend. The occasion will be tempting both for the drivers, who will be able to start getting familiar with the Tuscan track with about 10-15 laps each, and for the team members who will be able to test, as already done by Mercedes last week in Silverstone, all the new procedures and new movements necessary to guarantee safety.
