Scuderia Ferrari’s first day of pre-season Formula One testing on Monday was close to perfection, a delighted Sebastian Vettel said after setting the fastest time and completing more laps than anyone else. The four times world champion managed 169 laps of Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya and the German did not hide his delight: “Unbelievable, I think the car was working really well. we had no issues slowing us down, we actually completed the programme just the way we wanted” – he told reporters.
Sebastian was also asked about his relationship and expectations regarding his current Ferrari teammate: “I don’t know Charles as a teammate yet. But you don’t even have to complicate these aspects too much, and I don’t expect Charles to create problems. Actually, I’m really happy [about Charles] and I can’t wait for the season to start. I think it will be very exciting for him to drive the car of his dreams, because for me it’s still like that today. I’m sure Charles will be fast and he will put me under pressure, we’ll see how it will go. Obviously, Charles will be a true rival. If he’s on this team it’s because he deserves to be there, so I’ll have to take it very seriously. In general there is always a great rivalry with the teammate, but the number one priority is to make the team grow.” – the German driver admitted.
Asked about Ferrari’s new Team Principal, Mattia Binotto, Sebastian Vettel said: “I’m ready to support Mattia as much as possible. Mattia has been in the team for a long time, he knows the team members perfectly, and as I said, it comforts me to see that today everyone is calm, focused and happy to come and do their job.” – the German driver concluded.
