Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel on Romain’s crash: “I haven’t looked at the images a lot because I really didn’t want to. But the main thing is he got out – I don’t know how to be honest. The guardrail is not supposed to fail like that. It’s good that the cars are safer than they used to be in the past, but the guardrail shouldn’t fail. And the car shouldn’t catch fire in that fashion. I don’t know what happened there. The main thing is that he got out”.
Seb about the many replays of the crash shown on TV: “People like to see this stuff… I guess otherwise the director or whoever cuts wouldn’t show it again and again. People like crashes, maybe sometimes they forget we are behind the wheel. I guess that’s (showing images of the crash) part of the show… That’s why I disappeared and didn’t look at the images too much”.
Seb about his race: “The first stint was really poor. At the start I lost a lot of ground because I got squeezed, I took extra care for the other car… And then I was compromised a lot, lost positions”.
