Official tyre supplier Pirelli has revealed Formula 1 teams’ tyre selections for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the 2017 F1 season, which is scheduled to be held on 26 November 2017 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
While the teams went for a relatively even split between the soft and the ultra-soft for the Yas Marina race last year, there is a clear preference for the ultra-soft in the 2017 selections.
Scuderia Ferrari, which won the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix with German driver Sebastian Vettel last weekend, Williams and McLaren have all chosen ten sets of ultra-softs for both their cars.
Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, Force India’s Sergio Perez and Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson have all also gone for ten sets of the softest tyre available, but their respective team-mates have opted for a more conservative selection. The championship-winning Mercedes team has nine sets of ultra-softs available for both its cars. For Lewis Hamilton, they are complemented by two sets of softs and super-softs each, while Valtteri Bottas will have three sets of the super-softs and just one set of softs.
Renault was the only team to select eight sets of the ultra-soft compound and four sets of super-softs for both its cars.
