Scuderia Ferrari’s 2021 Formula One season is now behind us, as is the calendar year that is drawing to a close. Exactly as happened in 2020, even the last championship did not give the team the joy of a victory, but in any case Ferrari finished the season that was ended in Abu Dhabi with significant improvements.
First of all, Carlos Sainz’s first year with Scuderia Ferrari can be considered a success. The Spanish driver, who was signed from McLaren to replace the four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, finished his first season in red with four podiums – 2nd place in Monte Carlo as best result, with better figures that teammate Charles Leclerc, 2nd at Silverstone.
On the contrary, the Monegasque nevertheless brought the Prancing Horse back in front of everyone in qualifying, taking two consecutive pole positions in his home race in Monte-Carlo and in the following one in Azerbaijan, always on a city track. Results, together with other placings in the points area, which allowed Ferrari to climb to third place in the constructors’ championship, redeeming itself from a 2020 that had condemned the red only in sixth place, the worst result since 1980.
