Home » Scuderia Ferrari pays $3.6m for the 2018 Formula One season entry fees

Scuderia Ferrari pays $3.6m for the 2018 Formula One season entry fees. The combined entry fees amount to $16,276,544..

Scuderia Ferrari has copped the biggest increase as a consequence of the 2017 Formula One season being its most competitive campaign in the hybrid era. The Maranello team’s total of 522 points means it handed over $3,210,170, an increase of $639,964 on the previous year, while Red Bull had the biggest reduction, down $516,100 to $2,415,376, having scored 100 points fewer than 2016.

World Champions Mercedes, meanwhile, paid over $4.6m in entry fees for the 2018 Formula 1 season, a reduction of over half a million on the previous campaign, as reported by the British and Italian media. Mercedes, under new regulations, battled Ferrari in the opening half of the season, before pulling clear after the summer break, to clinch its fourth straight Constructors’ crown. An amended entry fee system, introduced in 2013, mandated every team to pay a flat entry fee of $516,128, indexed by the US CPI [Consumer Price Index], along with a sliding scale dependent on its success.

The Constructors’ Champions must pay a fee of $6194 for each point earned, with the remaining outfits charged $5161 per point amassed, with the amount payable by 30 November. The 668 points accrued by Mercedes in 2017 means it has paid $4,653,720 to the FIA, a year-on-year reduction of $600,818, having scored 765 points in 2016, and over 700 in both 2014 and 2015.

It is the lowest amount Mercedes has had to pay since it emerged as a title-winning force in 2014.

Force India, Renault, Haas and Sauber have all had marginal increases having scored more points in 2017 than 2016, while Williams, Toro Rosso and McLaren have had to pay less.

The combined entry fees amount to $16,276,544.
