Rumour: Inaki Rueda and Laurent Mekies also set to leave Ferrari at end of 2022 F1 season. Inaki Rueda and Laurent Mekies also set to leave Ferrari .

Despite the fact that Scuderia Ferrari has denied the information Mattia Binotto will be replaced from the role of Team Principal at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season, rumors continue to grow regarding the organizational chart of the Maranello team for the next F1 championship season. In fact, in addition to Mattia Binotto, Inaki Rueda and Laurent Mekies could also be destined to leave the Italian side.

According to f1ingenerale.com, Laurent Mekies could join Alfa Romeo precisely to replace Frederic Vasseur. The official announcement could come after the Abu Dhabi grand prix, which will also mark the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season. Ferrari obviously could not confirm the rumors by remaining silent, and issued a brief statement on social media in which it denied the rumours, describing them as ‘totally without foundation’. However, that does not mean that all three managers will remain in their positions in 2023.

In particular, Laurent Mekies, currently working as assistant team principal and race director for Ferrari, should move to Alfa Romeo precisely as a replacement for the current Frederic Vasseur. Ferrari and Alfa Romeo would in fact exchange important figures, within the team albeit in different roles. Motorsport.com has in fact reported about a secret conversation between the Frenchman from Alfa Romeo and some men in Maranello. However, the future of Inaki Rueda is not yet known. He will most likely leave the team but not much is known about it yet. What is certain is that Ferrari will face a profound change regarding the management roles. All obviously with the aim of correcting the mistakes seen this year and trying to come back stronger in the 2023 world championship.

In Brazil we saw a clearly irritated Charles Leclerc and at the limit of patience towards the team and the another unacceptable strategy error made by the Maranello pit wall, namely the decision to send Charles Leclerc out in the start of Q3 with intermediates tyres, with the hope that the rain would fall in a short time. This forced the Monegasque into an uphill weekend, as Charles still managed to finish fourth at the finish line in Sao Paulo.

However, this mistake represents only the tip of the iceberg during a season that could have been glorious for Scuderia Ferrari. A season which instead turned into an ordeal between mistakes, wrong strategies and reliability problems. We just have to wait for updates regarding Ferrari’s future for next season and see if the rumors circulating now will have a real foundation.
