The founder of the legendary team, Enzo Ferrari, never stood on ceremony with those who could not achieve the result – he personally fired many drivers and tehnicians. After the death of the Commendator, his order remained for a long time in Maranello. It seemed that recently this situation has begun to change little by little – however, according to the latest gossip, Scuderia is in no hurry to abandon traditions. Rumor has it that after two weak seasons, Mattia Binotto will be fired from the role of Team Principal.
The former technical director took over the Ferrari F1 in early 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene. And if in the first season under his leadership Ferrari became the second in the Constructors’ standings, last year it slipped into the sixth place, the worst in 40 years.
The main source that talks about the dismissal of Mattia Binotto was the Czech driver Josef Kral. At one time, he raced in GP2, winning one race, and even conducted tests in Formula 1. Now the he drives for Ferrari in GT competitions.
In his video blog on Youtube, Kral said that Ferrari has already decided on the fate of Binotto, but is waiting for the upcoming tests in Bahrain to see how quickly the new car will go. If SF21 turns out to have the pace, Mattia can count on words of gratitude and a different tone in the press release about the layoff.
Soon after the video became known to reporters, Joseph closed it for viewing.
Binotto himself at a recent team presentation said that in 2021 he plans to devote less time to everyday management, preferring to work more at the base in Maranello. He already missed the Grand Prix at the end of last season.
Turkish journalist Serhan Acar, who served in the national racing TOSFED Federation, on Friday night wrote on Twitter that Mattia Binotto will leave the post of head of the F1 team and will represent the interests of Ferrari in the FIA World Council.
Who exactly can replace Mattia in the role of team leader is still unknown. It is highly likely that the candidacy will be linked to the name of the new boss of the entire Ferrari company, whose search is now ongoing.
