Ferrari Driver Academy Robert Shwartzman is busy at the Mugello circuit for a day behind the wheel of the Ferrari SF-21 car, that is to say last year’s single-seater. The young 22-year-old Russo-Israeli racing driver, who competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for 2020 and 2021 where he finished 4th and 2nd respectively, can drive thanks to his Israeli passport without incurring the FIA ban on Russian drivers. Ferrari has therefore organized a day of testing at the Tuscan home track trying to seize several opportunities.
Robert Shwartzman, in addition to being a Ferrari test driver, is also one of the drivers who often uses the Maranello simulator to gather data for the Italian side, so the team felt it was right to allow the young driver to have real feedback from the track, not limiting the work to something only virtual, given that the last time he drove a Formula 1 car was in January in Fiorano, on the occasion of the training days granted to the main drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Besides Robert Shwartzman’s normal training, however, Ferrari has added another interesting program: following Robert, in fact, there is no Grand Prix team, but a crew of young engineers and mechanics has been put together who to evaluate the track experience. The work program is quite intense, as it involves completing around 600 km: the distance can be seen as almost two Grand Prix, but in reality it represents the mileage equivalent to the simulation of a complete race weekend.
Ferrari also looks to the near future, thinking about possible additions to the team if needed, preparing the staff at all levels in order for them to be able to make the big for professional leap of joining the Formula 1 team.

The day, therefore, has a particular meaning and it is possible that Ferrari junior Robert Shwartzman is preparing to take part in the first free practice session for the French Grand Prix, given the fact that all Formula 1 teams have to provide a young driver with the chance to take part in two practice sessions during the current F1 season.
