Alfa Romeo reserve driver Robert Kubica admitted that his team are reaping the rewards of a much improved Ferrari power unit.
As part of his duties with the team, Kubica has now appeared in Free Practice 1 at both the Spanish and Styrian GPs, in what is his second season in that role at Alfa Romeo.
And so between those seasons he has seen the positive transformation for the team from struggling at the back of the grid to now challenging for points once again in 2021.
A marked improvement then, and Kubica believes Ferrari’s gains in the engine department have been a key factor.
“Altogether our package is more competitive in the last year,” he told RaceFans.net – “The Maranello guys with the power unit have done a good step forward. Probably last year we were lacking quite a bit. So I think we are in a stronger position. I think the driveability has been always a strong point of Ferrari’s power unit, it’s just that we have more power, more torque and generally more horsepower. It’s quite significant.” – Alfa Romeo reserve driver Robert Kubica concluded.
