Third row for the Monegasque
On paper, the Miami GP was expected to be a tough one for Ferrari, and so far the weekend in Florida doesn’t seem to be going well for the Maranello team. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton did not go beyond sixth and seventh place in the Sprint Qualifying. As seen in the early races of the 2025 Formula 1 season, the SF-25 struggles especially in slow corners. However, according to the Monegasque driver, the difficulties vary from circuit to circuit, making it even more challenging to find a stable solution.
The Monegasque driver was over three tenths slower than pole-sitter Andrea Kimi Antonelli, but once again put two tenths between himself and teammate Lewis Hamilton. A tough Friday for Ferrari, summed up by Charles Leclerc as follows:
Speaking to Sky Sport, the Ferrari driver emphasized that the lap was good, but quite simply the SF-25 currently doesn’t allow for more: “The lap was good, but the result isn’t. We absolutely don’t have pace right now. Tomorrow I’ll try to do something special at the start, but honestly there’s not much room for improvement based on what we saw today — the car is what it is at the moment. Slow corners are our weakness, but there isn’t a single corner where we’re particularly fast either.”
