On December 29, 2013, almost ten years ago, Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher became the victim of an accident while skiing in the French Alps. After the serious fall, the German suffered severe head injuries and never fully recovered from that moment. Recently, Ralf Schumacher, the younger brother of the seven-time world champion, spoke about this situation. Below are are some of his most important comments:
Ralf Schumacher’s account
Ralf Schumacher, interviewed by German newspaper Bild, stated: “Since that moment, our family has changed. I can say that his accident was a very bad and drastic experience for me as well. But not only for me, for example, also for Michael’s children: Mick, as we all know, was a young teenager at the time. Unfortunately, life is not always fair, and there has been a lot of misfortune here.” – the former Formula 1 driver admitted.
The German continued: “Michael is not just my brother. When he was younger, he was also my coach and mentor. He taught me everything about karting. We may have a seven-year age difference, but at the time, he was always by my side. We drove karts together, practiced overtaking, and all those things that are important in motorsport. He shared all the experience he had gained in the previous seven years, simply allowing me to learn from the best.” – the former Jordan, Williams and Toyota driver added.
