President of FIA Single-Seater Commission, Gian Carlo Minardi, the founder and managing director of the now-defunct Minardi Formula One team, gave a long and interesting interview for the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, in which he talked about the main events in the world of Formula 1. Here is an excerpt of his considerations regarding the situation at Ferrari.
Gian Carlo Minardi: “It seems impossible to me that they can’t find internal solutions.”
“The team principal is right: if they pay attention to all the details, they can compete with the others,” said Gian Carlo Minardi, referring to the words spoken by Frederic Vasseur on the sidelines of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, where Ferrari achieved its third podium of the season with Charles Leclerc. “The level is very high; in qualifying, there were about ten cars within a second. Now, in the standings, Maranello is trailing Mercedes by 56 points: it seems like a lot, but there are still 10 races to go. It’s possible,” – the President of FIA Single-Seater Commission explained.
A look to the future…
At the beginning of the 2023 Formula 1 season, the Ferrari management had promised that the SF-23 would fight for the title. As we know, unfortunately, the words were not followed by actions:

“Shall we meet again in 2025?” asked the La Repubblica reporter of Minardi, referring to the Prancing Horse’s return to the world title fight. The manager from Faenza’s response is anything but reassuring for the fans of the Scuderia. “No: I don’t like post-dated checks, I hate deadlines (laughs). Certainly, the same group of people has produced a car with evident limitations: Maranello pays for too many years of stagnation; it seems impossible to me that with so many employees, they can’t find internal solutions. We will have to wait again, unfortunately.” – Gian Carlo Minardi concluded.
