Pirelli to add sixth slick tyre compound to line-up for next season. Pirelli adds new tyre compound to F1 for 2023.

Formula 1 official tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed that it will bring a sixth dry weather compound tyre to their lineup for the next Formula 1 championship, as the ‘C0’ is set to be added to the Pirelli range.

The Italian tyre maker normally nominates three tyres – a Soft, Medium, and Hard – for each Grand Prix weekend which are chosen from a selection of compounds ranging from C1 (hardest) to C5 (softest).

The C0 is based on the current C1 band of tyre, with a new version of the C1 set to be introduced.

“The new C1 was tested in Texas and it offers more grip, as the old version of that tyre wasn’t as grippy,” said Pirelli motorsport engineer Simone Berra – “The current C2 to C5 tires remain exactly the same in terms of composition.”

Which tyres are being tested in Abu Dhabi?
Formula 1 tyre manufacturer Pirelli has been testing the C1 to C5 range in Abu Dhabi and other testing sessions have been confirmed for next month. A total of 12 sets will be provided to each driver between each, with 10 sets provided to young drivers between the C3, C4, C5 and both wet compounds.
