Pirelli explains key tyre role for performance in Canada. Pirelli explains key tyre role for performance in Canada.

Formula One official tyre supplier Pirelli believe the biggest challenge at the Canadian Grand Prix at the weekend will be keeping the tyre temperatures under control, as the Italian tyre supplier of Formula 1 has opted for the same tyre choices as we witnessed at the Monaco Grand Prix. The C3, C4 and C5 tyre compounds will be available for all the teams to use.

Pirelli boss Mario Isola believes the tyre temperature will be one of the most difficult challenges ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

“Broadly speaking, our nomination for Canada is about the same as last year, when the hyper-soft also made its second appearance of the year after Monaco,” Isola said, as cited by The Checkered Flag – “The main difference is that the hardest compound available this weekend is a bit harder than last year, and there is no equivalent of the super-soft in the 2019 range, so the choices are more spread out. While we have the same nomination as Monaco, a few of the teams have compared Montreal more with Baku (Azerbaijan) – where we made a harder selection – because of the higher speeds, longer straights, and the challenge of balancing tyre temperatures across the front and rear of the car.” – Pirelli motorsport director Mario Isola concluded, ahead of the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
