Piero Ferrari commented on Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in Scuderia Ferrari by sharing a story and discussing the likely relationship he will build with teammate Charles Leclerc.
Piero Ferrari knows that Lewis Hamilton in Red will be a beautiful story to tell. Thus, Enzo’s son wanted to comment on Maranello’s epochal signing by recounting Hamilton’s visits to the Ferrari factory and imagining the kind of relationship he will establish with his future teammate Charles Leclerc.
The Vice President of Ferrari did not dwell on the purely economic aspects of the matter but rather on the personality and the narrative. In fact, he recounted the moment he met Hamilton at the Maranello factory.
“Perhaps not everyone knows that Hamilton has always been tied to the allure of Ferrari. He has visited our factory more than once and owns some of our cars. He particularly loves his collection, and imagine if one of our cars could ever be missing from his garage,” said Enzo’s son.
Then, the Vice President shared an anecdote. “Ferrari had recently renewed the contract with Sebastian Vettel, and during one of his visits, Lewis Hamilton made a comment. ‘If you had waited 12 months, I would have come here to you,’ jokingly.”
Piero Ferrari then reassured fans about the rivalry between Hamilton and Leclerc. “I don’t think they’ll have problems. Charles knows he is the champion of the future, and it’s proven to him every day at Ferrari. Lewis is a different story. I am sure everything will be fine, and I don’t see why they should argue.” – he pointed out.
Then, a final thought on the 2024 Formula 1 season: “They are professionals, and they will work in respect of everyone, both Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz. It’s not the first time a driver races with a team knowing that from the next season, they will be elsewhere. It will be fine, and we hope we will win,” concluded the Vice President.
