Peter Windsor has recounted another of the legendary anecdotes that have made Kimi Raikkonen a true icon in the world of Formula 1.
Despite being away from the race tracks for three years now, the name of Kimi Raikkonen constantly resonates in the minds of Ferrari and F1 fans, who over the years have learned to love the personality of the Finn, making him a true favorite.
Unforgettable are his team radios and his always somewhat annoyed responses to media interviews, trademarks of a driver who has always wanted to focus solely on the track, and very little on the external surroundings.
In addition to the various well-known anecdotes, Peter Windsor, a renowned British journalist and former Ferrari team manager, has revealed another of the particular episodes that have made Ice Man a true icon in the world of Formula 1, this time with Kimi as the protagonist in a nightclub: “I remember going to a nightclub after a Brazilian Grand Prix one year, and it was a party that lasted until late.”
“There was a balcony overlooking the dance floor, and I went up to the balcony to take a look, to see who was there and what was happening. Kimi was up there.” – he added.
“He had his elbows resting on the balcony and was staring into space. I stood next to him and we both silently stared at this scene. Then suddenly Kimi turned to me and said, ‘I hate Formula 1,’ and then he left.”
Despite never particularly loving the life of a star in the paddock, Kimi Raikkonen can still boast one of the longest careers ever in Formula 1, having competed in a remarkable 19 seasons from 2001 to 2021 (excluding the two years of absence in 2010 and 2011) and having participated in a total of 353 races.
Impressive numbers that actually testify to his great passion for the premier class, with the Finn still remaining the last Drivers’ World Champion for Scuderia Ferrari to this day.
