As the start of the 2023 Formula One world championship draws ever closer, the relationship between this last F1 campaign and the 2022 season will still remain alive. This, at least, with regard to the infringements or errors committed by the drivers last year, which cost the 20 participants the addition of penalty points on their Superlicences.
The one who currently finds himself in the worst condition is the new Alpine driver, Pierre Gasly, the most ‘undisciplined’ in 2022 at the wheel of the AlphaTauri. The Frenchman, as repeatedly underlined, has collected a total of 10 points out of 12 maximum. This means that, in the event of one or two breaches of the sporting regulations on the track before the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly will be liable to a one-race suspension. Otherwise, the French driver will see his penalty decrease more and more, until the total removal of the points, which is scheduled for October 30th. Pierre Gasly is also the only one with so many penalty points, followed by Lance Stroll (at 8) and by Alexander Albon with 7.
On the other hand, there is a completely different situation for all the drivers that are part of the three top teams: Mercedes, Red Bull and Scuderia Ferrari. While George Russell ‘dominates’ this special standings with 4 points, behind him are the Red Bull duo, with Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen both two points behind. The discipline of the Ferrari drivers should be underlined, with Charles Leclerc having received only one point and Carlos Sainz without even a penalty zero, exactly like the seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Worth noting, among the drivers participating in the last world championship, is also Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate, Valtteri Bottas, also without penalties.
