Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman’s golden moment continues as he gets another chance to drive a Formula 1 car during the upcoming round of the 2024 Formula 1 championship, the Hungarian Grand Prix. After the FP1 session at the Silverstone circuit, the English driver will again be on track with Haas during the first free practice session in Budapest.
Typically, each team must allow some free practice sessions to young drivers who have not yet raced in an official F1 race. However, in Oliver Bearman’s case, Haas is making exceptions and giving him more opportunities to get familiar with an F1 car.
The English driver has already participated in an official race when Ferrari called him to replace Carlos Sainz, who was sidelined by emergency surgery, at the Jeddah circuit. In that instance, the English driver finished the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in an excellent sixth place, earning his first Formula 1 points.
At Silverstone, Haas officially announced him as a driver for the 2025 season, and he also took part in the first free practice session. Now, in Hungary, he will have another hour-long session to drive the car that will be his in a few months.
As announced in Haas’s official statement, Oliver Bearman will take Kevin Magnussen’s place in Budapest. This will be the fourth free practice session out of six scheduled for the entire 2024 Formula 1 season.
In short, the Ferrari Driver Academy member will have another chance to stand out in an official F1 session before becoming one of the 20 main drivers on the grid.
