Charles Leclerc’s victory in Monaco has a special flavor, so much so that there was a great celebration by the Ferrari fans in the streets of the Italian town of Maranello.
After five editions that saw him off the podium in front of his home fans, in last Sunday’s race, Charles Leclerc took his revenge against the curse of his home Grand Prix. The pole position secured on Saturday was a preview of the amazing moments seen on Sunday, but in Monte Carlo, nothing can be taken for granted, as Ferrari knows very well, having previously missed out on the race win when starting from pole position on the last six occasions. After completing the 78 scheduled laps, joy pervaded everyone present in Monaco, and there was also a big celebration in Maranello to mark Charles Leclerc’s victory.
77 laps of management and anxiety among all the fans who watched yesterday’s race. Charles Leclerc’s pole position had raised great hopes of achieving success in one of the three Triple Crown races. However, the crash involving Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, and Nico Hulkenberg raised the anxiety levels of the spectators. The entire race was covered with a single compound, playing a game of tire management, with Oscar Piastri right behind with a gap of about 1 second.
The number of laps seemed to never decrease, and everyone held their breath, hoping not to see a safety car on the track. Overcoming the fear of a second pit stop, the road to Charles Leclerc’s victory started to look downhill, and spirits began to relax. Crossing the finish line with waving, the Monegasque let out a liberating scream that triggered a gigantic celebration in Maranello.
With the waving of the checkered flag, the city of Ferrari’s headquarters took to the streets to celebrate Charles Leclerc’s success. A victory in the principality that had been missing since 2017, when Sebastian Vettel stood on the top step of the podium with the SF70-H. With the newfound success, Ferrari fans took up their flags with the prancing horse and started celebrating with the banner waving in the wind.
