At the beginning of the year, Sebastian Vettel offered eight cars from his private collection for sale – including several Ferrari cars. Some then suspected that the former Ferrari driver wanted to get rid of the vehicles after his separation from Scuderia. In the meantime, the four-time world champion has spoken about the background himself.
When asked whether he had put the cars up for sale because Ferrari decided not to renew his contract last year, Sebastian Vettel responded with a shake of his head and said: “I think it’s just good to have a little more space.” The German adds: “I am generally very busy in my life.”
So he simply barely had time to drive the cars at all. “That’s the whole story behind it. No big secrets,” he shrugs. Apart from that, Sebastian Vettel, who has switched to Aston Martin, emphasizes that he has no grudge against his former employer.
“Our unofficial goal [for the 2021 season] is third. That means we have to be ahead of Ferrari. But for me there is no personal satisfaction in finishing ahead of Ferrari. Rather, the satisfaction is in the sense of being satisfied with their own performance, with the performance of the team, ” clarifies Sebastian Vettel on ‘Sky’ .
And Seb confirms that he is also not in a clinch with his former teammate Charles Leclerc: “I had a very good relationship with Charles and a very good understanding. I believe that we could both learn from each other,” said Vettel, who has collided with Leclerc several times over the past two years on the track.
“I think that the conditions in the team were a little different in the end, the position in the team was a little different. He’s staying there, I moved on, so to speak. It is clear that there is a different dynamic then,” said Sebastian Vettel. But here too there is no bad blood.
