The “Lion”, in collaboration with BUDDS, will sell several items with no reserve and at more accessible prices
Memorabilia of the “Lion” up for sale
Tuesday 10 February will be an unmissable date for Formula 1 fans, especially for those who grew up idolising Nigel Mansell. The 1992 world champion, in collaboration with BUDDS, has decided to put several pieces from his private collection up for auction, including items used by the “Lion of England” throughout his illustrious racing career.
Among the highlights is the helmet he used during the 1992 season, complete with his autograph, as well as the “Rookie of the Year” trophy he won the following year in IndyCar. In addition to these, just to name a few examples, there will also be signed race suits and racing boots. What makes this auction, which will take place on the official BUDDS website, even more special is that all items will be sold with no reserve, meaning they can be purchased at more accessible prices.
More auctions in the past
This is not the first time the former Lotus, Ferrari and Williams driver has put his memorabilia up for auction. In the past, Mansell has already sold items from the Mansell’s Legacy Collection, as he did in 2023. On that occasion, the sale also included his 1988 Ferrari Testarossa, as well as his 1991 Williams FW14.
The upcoming auction represents a rare opportunity for collectors to secure authentic, signed equipment from one of the most physically demanding eras of the sport. Given Mansell’s enduring popularity and the “no reserve” nature of the sale, interest is expected to be exceptionally high among the F1 community.
Nigel Mansell’s decision to auction signed race gear and iconic trophies from his private collection offers a unique chance for Formula 1 fans to own a tangible piece of “The Lion’s” storied career. By offering these items without reserve through BUDDS, the 1992 world champion continues to build upon the success of his Legacy Collection, ensuring his historic achievements remain accessible to the collectors and fans who supported him across Lotus, Ferrari, and Williams. Ultimately, this auction serves as a final celebration of Mansell’s dual-series dominance, bridging the gap between his F1 glory and his legendary IndyCar rookie campaign for a new generation of motorsport enthusiasts.
